    Do you want a Mixer?
    Do you want a Compressor?
Do you want a noise gate?
    Do you want Equalization?

Do you have space for a full rack of gear and a table top mixer?

    I know I didn't!

    Found the solution!!!!

Pics Below of my quick setup and size and reference.

    This is a Behringer XR16
16 Channel Mixer This unit replaces a hole rack of equipment and mixer for a fraction of the cost and space!
    No manual controls......
The controls are on the computer and or your phone or tablet.
Look for USED ones that's what I did!

    Links to these.

They also make a 18 channel version.

Superb info Scott! I didn't realize these things could be had for a relatively low price. I'm motivated to investigate them after seeing this post!

MIXERS AND AUDIO Empty One-stop audio shop

    Post by NA3CW Sun Feb 16, 2020 4:19 pm

I've used the version of this series with hardware controls (Behringer X32) for the last couple of years in our church.  They sound great and the feature set is mind-boggling.  The X32 also is capable of being operated remotely through a tablet computer or even a smart phone.  That feature is very handy when training new operators.  The student op can operate the main audio position without me hanging over his shoulder.  If anything gets away from him, I can quietly take over from my seat in the crowd and get him back on the rails.

The beauty of Scott's mixer is that it can be stashed out of sight and not take up valuable operating space.  The internal software of these mixers could take a long time to even review, much less master.  The signal flow is different from an analog mixer.  Any physical input can be assigned to any fader channel.  The result of that fader can be assigned to any or all of the "sends" (outputs).  The upshot is that every output, which could go to your HF rig, VHF rig, recorder, etc, etc, can have its own mix, its own EQ (equalization or tone control), its own effects like compression, limiting, flanging, and whatever audio magic you want to use.  It's truly a one-stop audio shop!
